King County warns of harmful Algal Bloom in Lake Burien

King County announced Monday (Oct. 22) that a water sample collected on Friday, Oct. 19 from Lake Burien had concentrations of the algal toxin microcystin that were above the State Department of Health Recommended Recreational Guidance thresholds.

“We recommend that people and pets do not swim in the lake, drink lake water, or engage in other water-contact activities,”

Lake Burien will be re-sampled next week.
