Lilith
Considering a new companion for the new year? Look no further – Lilith is ready to make this your best year yet! This gorgeous girl is a 5 year old pit mix with a sweet temperament that will steal your heart. Brought to CARES as a stray in October (presumably after being abandoned), Lilith has displayed a penchant for affection that shines through her reserved ways, which are undoubtedly a result of hardship experienced in her life. Staff describe this onyx beauty as incredibly loving and intelligent, noting that she is pretty quiet, but “is always at her door with tail wagging waiting for you.†When I let her out in the play yard, the first thing Lilith did was run over to me and try to climb up into my lap to cuddle, pressing against me for puppy hugs and giving kisses. It was immediately evident that this little lady just wanted to be held, although after getting her fill of loving she was only too eager to play a few rounds of fetch, and chase-me. According to the folks at CARES, Lilith was pretty frightened when she first arrived; she’s been coming out of her shell more and more, but she can still be a little shy, and reactive to certain types of touch. She will need a family with a lot of patience, and having experience with her breed and some knowledge of training would be ideal. She has done alright with most of the other dogs she has encountered in the shelter, but since she can be a bit skittish she may do best in a home where she is the only pup. Prospective adopters can schedule a meet-and-greet with her and any potential new siblings, however, if there is an interest in having her join a family with other doggos. CARES staff say she seems happiest when she’s out and about on walks, so she’ll definitely need someone who can provide her plenty of daily exercise and fresh air, along with abundant amounts of attention and affection. Overall, Lilith is a very healthy girl. She has a benign cyst on the top of her head, but it doesn’t seem to be causing her any discomfort, so staff say there probably isn’t an urgent need to have it removed, and no other health concerns for her have been detected. She has been spayed, microchipped, flea-treated, and is up-to-date on vaccinations. This kind-hearted canine seems like she has been through some tough times in her life, but despite that has not lost her warm and tender spirit. She deserves only the best, and it’s long past due time for a family to take her home and realize her dream of being someone’s special girl. Lilith will surely fill a lucky family’s life with love – all she needs is someone willing to give her the same.
Jack and Callie
Meet Jack and Callie! These two are a bonded pair of kitties that were surrendered to CARES in early December when their owner had to move. Jack, a silky grey and white shorthair, is 8 months old, and Callie, a domestic mix with a plush orangey coat, is a year old. These two are both incredibly friendly – they love pets and cuddles, and aren’t afraid to hop right up into your lap to get them. As soon as I sat down in the cat room, both of these cute little critters came right over to greet me with sniffs and head boops, pushing their way into my arms and soaking up the attention eagerly. Jack in particular was content to be held close, snuggling up like the baby he is as I gently rocked him in my arms. Callie displayed a more independent streak, still interested in the affection, but not firmly planted by my side. She strolled around, and eventually perched up on her bed to watch the ongoings of me with Jack, and other people going about their business. These two also are very playful – while visiting with them, I watched them run around chasing toys like overgrown kittens (not too far off, in fact) for over an hour, scampering back and forth and dodging and pouncing to capture their elusive prey (feathers on a string). They have the joy and excitement to match their youth, and will definitely need a home well-stocked with fun stuff for them to bat around and toy with. These charming cats are an inseparable duo – they come as a package deal, but they are more than happy to have friends join in the fun! They both get along well with other cats, dogs, and children, and would make a great addition to a home with playmates to keep them entertained. Jack and Callie are both fixed, flea-treated, microchipped, up-to-date on their shots, and ready to find their new family!
