Music photography at Burien Community Center in Feb.; reception Feb. 5

The Burien Arts Association will feature the photographs of Kari Taylor in its February 2019 exhibit at the Burien Community Center, and will also hold an opening reception on Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Center.

The exhibit runs to Feb. 28, and is open to the public during Center hours, 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., Monday–Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday.

Kari specializes in high-end music and editorial photography. Her music and editorial work includes shots that capture the feeling of an event, live music, and highly produced band images used in magazines or on album covers.

She especially enjoys working with bands and people in the music industry “because they are always interesting people to get to know and as Jack Kerouac said: ‘the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones mad to live – desirous of everything at the same time’”.

Kari’s work has been featured in Seattle Magazine, Seattle Music Insider, Where Traveler, and at the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. She has published a book of her collected music photos, Gaaflora Music (available at

Kari owns and operates her own studio, Gaaflora Photography, in Seattle, and also manages the Meryl Schenker Photography studio where she designs marketing campaigns, retouches photos, and runs the business day-to-day.

In addition, she teaches art basics to school-aged children through Smart with Art, Bellevue. Smart with Art provides art teachers and classes to schools that do not have their own art programs.

Kari is a graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle with a BA Fine Arts-Commercial Photography. She also studied Fine Arts at Edinboro University, Edinboro, Pennsylvania,
