[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]

I’m deeply saddened to hear about the death of my long-time colleague at the Highline Times, Ralph Nichols.

We called him “The Bulldog” – tough, tenacious, never afraid of controversy.

I always admired how he well he crafted his stories. Highline readers were lucky to have such a fine journalist with his past experience on daily newspapers reporting on their community.

Despite our political differences, we worked well together and got along great. In fact, we used those differences to write a series of columns gently mocking each other’s philosophies. Personally, I always thought that if his political leanings had been different, Ralph would have made a hell of a great union organizer.
