Puget Sound Skills Center Students install new sculpture at Community Center
On Thursday morning (May 23), students from Burien's Puget Sound Skills Center installed a brand new, original metallic sculpture – that they created – in the atrium of the Burien Community Center. The sculpture was made by students at the school's welding program. "We have been partnering with Dale and his students at the Puget Sound Skills Center welding program since 2009," said Gina Kallman, Cultural Arts Supervisor for Burien Parks. Kennedy holding ‘Battle of the Bands’ fundraiser for tornado victims Tuesday
Kennedy Catholic High School will be holding a 'Battle of the Bands' on Tuesday evening, May 28, to raise emergency relief money for victims of the devastating tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma earlier this week. The fundraiser will be held in the school gym, and will start at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5, and event t-shirts will also be on sale. All money raised from admission and T-shirt sales will go to Oklahoma Red Cross. Highline Public Schools to fund free full-day Kindergarten at all schools
Highline Public Schools announced Thursday (May 23) that it will fund tuition-free full-day kindergarten at all schools starting this fall, regardless of the amount the state legislature allocates to full-day kindergarten. State lawmakers are currently debating over budget plans with varying levels of kindergarten funding. Each of the three plans would fund full-day kindergarten at some, but not all, schools in Highline. “We cannot wait for the legislature to act. Highline Historical Society’s Online Auction Fundraiser is now open
The Highline Historical Society has opened its online auction fundraiser, which runs through June 2. "Auction items range from exotic vacation getaways, to restaurant gift certificates, to sports memorabilia signed by the likes of Hank Aaron and Russell Wilson," reads an announcement.
