Here’s more info on the school:
The Bridge School is a cooperative elementary school founded by a grassroots group of parents who wanted a community-oriented school with a progressive, experiential approach. The school’s mission is to create a community of families dedicated to fostering joyful learning through cooperative, child-centered, experiential education. The school opened a year and a half ago and has grown from sixteen to thirty-six students in that time. The school expects to increase in size again for 2013-2014.
Cooperative schools have a long history in the United States and are becoming increasingly popular all over the country. This model requires high parent involvement and supports a strong school to home connection. While teachers plan and implement the curriculum, parents serve as support staff in the classroom and run the business of the school. The greater Puget Sound area is home to several successful cooperative schools including University Cooperative School, Kapka Cooperative School and public cooperative schools in the Edmonds, Northshore and Marysville school districts.
