The Burien City Council is discussing a potential ban on single use plastics in the city because of concerns about the damaging effects of plastics in the natural environment.

A roundtable discussion will be held from 7:30 – 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 to get feedback from local businesses.

The City of Burien strategic plan calls for the city to protect and improve the quality of Burien’s natural environment.

The City Council has asked the BEDP to provide recommendations on the draft plastic bag ordinance in advance of their discussion in October.

The BEDP will be hosting a business roundtable on Friday, Sept. 28, to get feedback from Burien businesses about the potential ban on single use plastic bags.

Businesses will have the opportunity to learn more about what materials are included in the potential ban, and what is listed as exempt under the current draft language. The BEDP is an advisory group to City Council comprised of Burien business owners and residents interested in promoting economic development.

The City of Burien Business and Economic Development Partnership (BEDP) will be hosting a business roundtable to get feedback from Burien businesses about a potential ban on single use plastic bags in favor of paper bags or reusable bags.

Businesses will have the opportunity to learn more about what materials are included in the potential ban, and what is listed as exempt under the current draft language.
