The City of Burien announced that they will be holding an Information Forum/Community Meeting hosted by City Manager Brian Wilson on Thursday, May 17, starting at 7 p.m., regarding the future of Eagle Landing Park.

The meeting will be held in City Hall.

All who have interest in the park and its future are invited to come.

As many of our Readers may recall, landslides and geologic movement has caused the once-popular stairs in the park to be closed, and some neighbors of the park are claiming the damages have been caused by ‘negligent stormwater management.’

Tentative Agenda:

  • 7:00-7:05pm: Welcome and Introductions
    Brian Wilson, City Manager
    Steve Roemer, Parks Director
    Maiya Andrews, Public Works Director
    Galan McInelly, Geo Engineers
  • 7:05pm: Presentation, status of Eagle Landing Park stairs
    History of stairs
    Area geology
Options being considered, issues of concern
  • 7:30-8:25pm: Public questions, answers, discussion
  • 8:25-8:30pm: Next steps, follow-up.

“We will take steps to document the questions that are asked and if we can answer them, we will. If we are not able to answer the questions during the meeting, will obtain answers and report back. The meeting will be recorded and broadcasted via our normal City channels. We will have a citizen sign-up sheet for the opportunity for questions to be asked and to provide everyone an equal opportunity for questions/comments,” the city said.

“The more people that show up, the louder the voice,” Rob Halpin said in a Facebook post.
