Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, BPW Foundation Chair Roslyn Ridgeway, Lilly Ledbetter, and BPW CEO Deborah Frett meet at the Department of Labor.
Activist Lilly Ledbetter will speak at the Washington State Business and Professional Women’s 2012 Conference on Saturday, May 19.
Ledbetter is well known for her pay equity battle with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company plant, which led to the passage of a federal law named in her honor.
“She did not set out to be an activist, but her fight for equal pay went all the way to the Supreme Court,” reads an announcement. “And in 2009 President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act – the first bill he signed into law.” (read more about Lilly’s fight for equal pay here; insight into Lilly’s personal life and family can be found here).
