Puget Sound’s geoducks are iconic, valuable, and fascinating creatures, and their management presents both opportunities and challenges.

Their slow growth, long lives, and fixed location means that their management is closer to that of a forest than a fish.

All ar invited for a lecture with Dr. Henry Carson at the Environmental Science Center on Thursday, May 17, from 6 – 7 p.m.

He will discuss the ecology of these giant burrowing clams, the way they are managed by the state and treaty tribes, and the value the shery provides to the state.
