A free workshop called ‘Rain Barrels to Rain Gardens: Rainwater Strategies to Enhance Your Yard’ will be held at the Burien Library on Tuesday, May 15 from 6 – 8 p.m.
Sponsored by the Environmental Science Center (ESC), Sustainable Burien, and Stewardship Partners, with support from the City of Burien and King Conservation District, this is a FREE workshop for the public.
“This will be a more in-depth look at how to manage the rainwater on your property while creating a natural yard with native plants,” reads an announcement.
Marilyn Jacobs from Rain Dog Designs will be speaking on ways to create a more environmentally-friendly and cost-effective yard. Guests can learn how to convert your bog into a beautiful garden by using native plants and well-draining soil. Participants in this workshop who answer a short survey will receive a free thank you gift and can be part of a drawing for a larger prize.
