Small Business Saturday is an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting small businesses and celebrating communities across the country, and this year it will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Founded by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

“This year, you can join us and get out and support the places you love here in Seattle Southside with the people you love on Nov 25,” Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Andrea Reay said.

Help make Small Business Saturday a huge success for local businesses by participating in the Chamber’s #ShopSmall Selfie Event. Just follow these easy four steps for your chance to win some fabulous prizes and help us get the word out about Small Business Saturday:

  1. Stop in and shop or dine at your favorite local restaurant or small business on Saturday, Nov. 25
  2. Take a Selfie with owners, staff, friends, etc.
  3. Extra points added for selfies taken at Member businesses! Follow this link to find Chamber member businesses
  4. Win a prize: best photos are eligible to win gift cards to local businesses. Winners will be notified on our Facebook page by December 1. All winners will need to make arrangements to pick up their gift cards by December 6.

Everyone is invited to please stop by the Seattle Southside Chamber Welcome Station located at Iris and Peony at 441 SW 152nd St, in Burien on Saturday November 25th from 9-11am to pick up your FREE Shop Small Merchandise.

“Studies have shown shopping independent locally-owned businesses keeps 48 cents of every dollar in the local community, as opposed to 14 cents of every dollar when shopping at a national chain and only 1 cent of every dollar when shopping national retailers online. We encourage shoppers to support and celebrate our unique business community and shop local this holiday season.”

–Andrea Snyder, Economic Development Manager, City of Burien
