Sunrise Financial Services will host its 4th annual “Pay it Forward” Charity Event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19.
The event will be held at 2108 SW 152nd Street and will benefit six local charities.
Right now, low donations are putting a major stress on charities, volunteers, and the people who depend on the provisions provided.
“The amount of people we serve is growing and donations are slim, especially during the summer months,” said Michelle Morrell of Transform Burien Community Resource Center. “People tend to donate much more during the holidays, but even the holiday donations have been low with the economy the way it is.”
Over the past four events, nearly a ton of food has been donated to the Highline Area Food Bank, and last year’s event generated three large truckloads of donations that were distributed to six different charities. This year, with the help of their clients and the Burien community, organizers hope to have five large truckloads of donations for participating charities.
Charities lined up for this year’s event include:
- Transform Burien Community Resource Center
- Hospitality House
- Treehouse for Kids
- Westside Baby
Each offers a different service to the community and focuses on various demographics.
