Weed Warriors and the “Making Burien Awesome” program have more trees to give away to Burien residents for FREE this Thursday only, Oct. 18, at the Burien Farmer’s Market.

The FREE tree giveaway will start at 11 a.m., and continue until supplies last.

Look for the Weed Warriors Nature Steward’s booth at the Farmers Market.

“We’re encouraging people to plant native trees that reduce carbon dioxide and provide habitat that supports wildlife – birds, butterflies and bees.”

  • One tree per household. If you’re in an apartment and would like be part of this program, we’ll help you to plant a tree in a local park.
  • Trees available include Garry Oak, Madrone, Doug Fir, Shore Pine, Cascara, Pacific Ninebark, Willow, Spruce, Hemlock, Oregon Ash, and Black Hawthorn.
  • Trees are in 1 and 3 gallon pots, and are ready to go into the ground. Fall is the best time for planting a tree.
  • The trees clean the air of carbon dioxide, create oxygen, mitigate storm water, beautify your yard, and provide habitat for wildlife. Ask Grace at the booth how to determine the amount of CO2 reduced by your tree.

The “Making Burien Awesome” program is made possible by funds from the Airport Community Ecology Fund to improve the local environment.

The Burien Farmers Market is located on SW 152nd Street at 5th Place SW, near Town Square Park:
