Have you made time to stop and visit the Highline Historical Society’s “Hope in Hard Times” pop-up museum on SW 153rd Street?
Originally developed by the Washington State History Museum, the traveling exhibit about the Great Depression era in Washington State is made possible with the support of Humanities Washington. For the next three months it will be open to the public at a temporary “pop-up museum” venue at 216 SW 153rd Street in Burien.
In conjunction with the traveling exhibit, Highline Historical Society curator Nancy Salguero McKay has developed several additional displays that focus on local Depression-era stories from around the Highline area.
This special exhibit will be in Burien until January 4, 2014 and is open Noon – 5:30 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Noon – 8:00 pm Thursday. Closed on Monday. Admission to this exhibit is free, but visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the local food bank.
