The victim of Friday’s (Nov. 21) tragic, fatal crash on Ambaum and SW 154th Street in Burien has been identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office as Peter Vandervelde, 51.

Alcohol is suspected in the crash, which occurred around 5 p.m. (read our previous coverage here).

The name of the driver of the car that caused the crash has not yet been identified.

Everyone at The B-Town Blog and South King Media sends their deepest sympathies out to all of Pete’s family, friends and co-workers.

We received word from a friend of the family that a fundraiser may be held soon to help pay for the family’s funeral costs; stay tuned to the blog for more info…

EDITOR’S NOTE: We only publish names of fatality victims once the King County Medical Examiner’s Office releases them; this is always after next of kin is notified.

Not to be mean or anything, just wondering why need to raise funds to help pay for funeral expenses? Isn’t that what insurance is for?
