Under soaking, soggy skies, 468Â hearty runners braved the dreaded ‘Snake Hill’ to run the Cove to CloverÂ fundraiser 5K, with 17-year old Marques Chacon crowned the overall winner with a time of 18:12.
Last year’s top finisher had a winning time of 19:41, so Marques â€“ who attends Evergreen High School â€“ really picked the pace up.
For much of the race, Marques was neck-and-neck with his twin brother Matthew (we thought we were seeing double!), as well as with second-place finisher Kelly MacKay, the early leader.
The top female runner was 14-year old Emma Flood, who clocked in at 23:08.
The oldest runner to finish was Melvin Gruschow, 73.
The oldest woman to finish was Kathleen Vermeire, 70.
