Around 12:18 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, a power outage hit the Burien/Normandy Park area served by Puget Sound Energy, affecting over 1800 customers, including Sylvester Middle School.

Cause of the outage is under investigation, and restoration is projected for 2:30 p.m., according to PSE’s outage map.

Parents of students at Sylvester received the following voicemail message:

The power including phone service at Sylvester Middle School is out and not expected to be restored until after a normal release time.

Classes are continuing and students are safe and warm. We will dismiss at normal time.

If you would prefer to pick your child up early you may do so there will be no after school activities today.
