Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office received a report of stolen U-Haul Truck around Noon on Wednesday (April 26), from the U-Haul business in the 13600 block of 1st Ave South.
The stolen vehicle was described as a box truck with Arizona plates.
Just after 1 p.m., a deputy on patrol spotted the truck driving in the area of SW 160th Street and 4th Ave SW.
The deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled.
“At one point the truck was driving in the new CHI Franciscan Health parking lot and got to the end of the parking lot and backed up, ramming the police car that had been trying to stop him,” Sgt. Cindi West told The B-Town Blog.
West said the deputy chased the vehicle to the area of S. 168th Street and 3rd Ave S., at a dead end (map below), where both occupants fled. The deputy caught and arrested the driver, but the passenger fled into a retention pond nearby before being tracked down and caught later by a K-9 dog and deputy.
The suspects are 23-years old and 16-years old, from Seattle and Auburn.
