Under glorious sunny skies, with temps in the high 70s, Burien’s Independence Day celebrations were a mix of tradition, family fun and red, white and blue pride in our country and region. VIDEOS: The city’s 96th Annual Independence Day Parade followed a new route this year, starting on SW 153rd Street then winding through what many consider to be Burien’s new heart – the now fully developed Town Square Park. Below is an edited (for time) yet mostly raw video of the parade, as shot (and broadcast live on Facebook) by Scott Schaefer near the corner of SW 152nd Street and 5th Place SW: [embed]https://youtu.be/F2nwZ0tjqYs[/embed] Then, at around 10 p.m. as most folks were just beginning to recover from BBQs and parties, the neighborhood-funded Three Tree Point Fireworks Show shot off from a barge; below are some of the highlights (NOTE: you can still donate to the fund here): [embed]https://youtu.be/srTW0G-H6Bs[/embed] Here’s a time lapse of the north beach at Three Tree Point: [embed]https://youtu.be/u6evsk1QWJM[/embed] PHOTOS: And of course resident Elston Hill had his camera out, and he captured these great photos (click images to see larger versions/slideshow): [caption id="attachment_114477" align="aligncenter" width="490"]VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 1 This is barge where the Three Tree Point Fireworks Show were fired from, as it moves into position.[/caption] VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 2 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 3 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 4 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 5 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 6 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 7 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 8 VIDEOS/PHOTOS: Scenes from a red, white and blue 4th of July in Burien 9]]>
