On the ides of March – Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. – the Burien Actors Theatre’s Script Club will meet at Merrill Gardens. This is a FREE event, and everyone is invited! This month BAT’s script club will be discussing Hindle Wakes. This script from 1912 is an amazing contrast to BAT’s current production of Rapture, Blister, Burn (for more info read The B-Town Blog’s review, and purchase TICKETS HERE). Both scripts, among other things, look at the role of women in society and female sexuality. While this is not the main theme in either play, it is there. What makes this month’s script club so interesting is the comparison of the views on those subjects about 100 years apart. (Hindle Wakes was published in 1912, and Rapture, Blister Burn was published in 2013.) Come see Rapture, Blister, Burn (BUY TICKETS HERE) and then join BAT’s script club on March 15 to compare Rapture, Blister, Burn with Hindle Wakes. It will be great fun. It is amazing what 101 years can do. BAT’s Script Club reads and talks about a different script every month, and meets on the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at Merrill Gardens. (Thanks Merrill gardens for being such a kind host.) BAT’s script club is led by BAT’s own Faith Beatty. If you can’t find the script BAT will be reading, BAT is happy to supply a script. They are either plays BAT is producing, scripts BAT is considering producing, or scripts BAT finds to be interesting and worthy of a read and discussion. Typically, the script is also located in BALL (Burien Actors Lending Library), located in Phoenix Tea in downtown Burien. Copies of the plays BAT produces are always available at BALL. Feel free to read the script before you come to the show!]]>
