A power outage on 1st Ave South is still affecting several businesses and intersections, and the City of Burien shared this update:

Currently, the city has a generator powering the traffic signal at SW 148th and 1st.

However, 143rd, 146th, and 150th signals are still out, and 143rd is being worked on next, in front of Fred Meyer.

“We are encouraging pedestrians to exercise caution when crossing,” Emily Inlow-Hood, Communications Officer for the City of Burien said.. “Police officers are on scene to help manage the traffic. We heard from Seattle City Light that power should be restored by 5 p.m.”

The city is encouraging businesses that have been affected by the outage to file a claim with Seattle City Light. To find details on the claim filing process, frequently asked questions and links to the Claim for Damages, visit the City of Seattle’s website or call the City of Seattle’s Customer Service Bureau at 206-684-2489.

“At this time, we know that a main power line was damaged during the installation of a fiber optic cable,” Hood added.
