Sweet Breeze Ice Cream, which first opened its doors in January, 2017, announced on Facebook on Sunday, Sept. 1, that it will be closing.
“…after much discussion, as we weigh our options along with dealing with some health issues, we have decided to close the shop,” owners Dan and Kim Fabrizio said in a Facebook post. “You will soon see a ‘For Lease’ sign on our front window, although our last day scooping is still up in the air.”
“It’s a sad day for us, we are proud of the hard work, a desire to be a positive addition to our community and our really good ice cream.” they added.
Sweet Breeze is located at 643-A SW 152nd Street, and we’re sure they’d love to give you all a final scoop.

At “The Boo in Burien” 3 years ago, we handed out candy and logo magnets in the middle of building out this space that would soon be Sweet Breeze Ice Cream. Dan and Dave Huck did most of the physical labor. And it was A LOT! We opened and sold our first scoops the day after Christmas and had our grand opening in January 2017.
So it’s really hard for us to even say these words, but after much discussion, as we weigh our options along with dealing with some health issues, we have decided to close the shop. You will soon see a “For Lease” sign on our front window, although our last day scooping is still up in the air.
It’s a sad day for us, we are proud of the hard work, a desire to be a positive addition to our community and our really good ice cream.
We’ve worked with some of the best teenagers the world has ever seen and are so thankful for their smiling faces, excellent handwriting and willingness to come work on very short notice.
The reviews and kudos and kind words from you made it a joy to be open rain or shine, freezing cold and snowy.
Our biggest hope is that Sweet Breeze will continue to be here for Burien and beyond. Anyone out there dreaming of owning a sweet small business?
We have established our brand and presence, we have great reviews on Google, Yelp and almost 1000 followers on FB. We have ideas to expand for winter and off site during the summer. It’s hard work for sure, but satisfying in more ways than all the ice cream you could ever eat!
We will pass on all we’ve learned including the “how to’s” of making ice cream, top-secret recipes, tips and tricks and the ins and outs of running a small business.
