The Burien Police Department busted some burglars recently, and uncovered an illegal pot-growing operation.

Here’s more from the Burien P.D.:

“Great teamwork leads to a drug seizure in Burien.

“Burien Police Department officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress in the 15000 block of 23rd Ave SW. The suspects fled before patrol units arrived, and officers searched the property and found signs of forced entry and a marijuana-growing operation.

“Officers stopped the suspects’ vehicle at the corner of S. 140th Street and 5th Ave S. The driver fled but two other suspects were detained. Precinct 4 Street Crimes Unit continued to investigate the marijuana-growing operation and determined that it was an unlicensed and therefore illegal operation.

“A search warrant was obtained, and 135 marijuana plants ($200,000 value), 17 pounds of processed marijuana ($20,000 value), and miscellaneous items were seized.

“Even though recreational marijuana is legal in Washington State, there are still those who are illegally growing and trafficking pot and when we find these operations we intend to shut them down.”
