The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that stolen mail – as well as US Postal Service’s big blue mailboxes – were recovered recently following an investigation:

Thanks to great teamwork between agencies, stolen mail and mailboxes were recovered following an investigation.

On May 16, 2020, Burien Precinct 4 – Special Emphasis Team (SET) received information that a moving truck may be involved in the theft of two U.S. Postal Service mail boxes – yes, we mean those big blue boxes you put your outgoing mail in.

Detectives located a vehicle matching the description and followed it to the 500 block of S. Sullivan Street in the South Park area (map below). The truck had been stolen and the driver was arrested.

A U.S. Postal Service inspector responded to the scene to assist and obtained a search warrant for the truck. Two mail boxes containing mail and a stolen bicycle were located in the cargo area.

The investigation determined that the mailboxes were stolen from the Renton area, and the bicycle was taken from Normandy Park.

Additional charges are pending.
