Burien’s St. Bernadette School will honor achievements of 8th Graders with an outdoor, safely distanced celebration of learning and their matriculation to high school this Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 7 p.m.

The successful end of middle school and launch to high school will be celebrated with a parade in the front parking lot at St. Bernadette Parish School, located at 1028 SW 128th (map below).

Here’s more from the school:

St. Bernadette Parish School in Burien is a diverse vibrant school of nearly 200 students in preschool through 8th grade. St. Bernadette is a multicultural school with many traditions, celebrations, and activities, including cultural events, throughout the year sponsored by the Parents’ Club. The School is characterized by extraordinarily supportive parents, innovative teachers, and enthusiastic students. The school provides an excellent education in a spiritual setting.

Many of our Eighth Graders have been together since preschool, a total of 11 years! While distance learning since mid-March they have maintained their close ties and support of one another virtually using Zoom, Google Classroom and other learning and communication methods. This is the first gathering of the entire class since school closed.

Students will stay in vehicles with their families while processing around the decorated parking lot. Diplomas will be awarded, student awards and high school scholarships will be presented, and all St. Bernadette teachers will line the procession route to cheer on the graduates.

While Covid-19 has closed school, it has strengthened our already solid community bonds. The 8th Grade Class led the school in their traditional spring events including May Crowning of Mary, Spirit Week celebration, the Jog-a-Thon fundraiser, and Field Day.

“We are delighted to send these students out to make positive and enduring contributions to our world,” school officials said.

St. Bernadette Parish School is a Catholic school. We educate students in grades preschool through 8th Grade and our mission is to teach Christian values in a Catholic-centered environment, to foster academic excellence, and to develop compassionate stewards.
