Burien Police / King County Sheriff’s Office are offering a “helpful hint” to criminals about charges for Hit and Run:

Here’s a helpful hint, in case you ever find yourself in this situation: A charge for Hit and Run is more serious than a charge for Driving with License Suspended.

On October 22, 2020 at approximately 5:12 p.m., Burien deputies were flagged down by a victim stating that she had just been struck and rear ended by a vehicle in the 12700 block of Ambaum Boulevard SW in Burien.

One of the deputies on scene recalled he had seen a dark colored Toyota Corolla with a damaged front end just prior to being flagged down. The victim confirmed the Toyota was the hit and run vehicle.

The deputy checked the area and, after giving dispatch a description of the suspect vehicle, another deputy spotted it in the 10700 block of 16th Ave SW in White Center and promptly pulled it over.

After confirming this was indeed the hit and run vehicle, the driver was placed in handcuffs and read his constitutional rights. The male driver told the deputy that he was on his cell phone when he rear ended the victim’s vehicle. Because he had a suspended license, here’s where our original hint comes in, he quote “freaked out” and decided to drive off.

That poor decision landed the male in the SCORE (South Correctional Entity) jail, where he was booked for investigation of Hit and Run.
