DESCRIPTION:A Free Repair event will be held at the Burien Library on Saturday\, Sept. 23\, 2023\, from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. \n\n\n\nThis free community repair event will be in the library’s main meeting room\, where skilled volunteer “fixers” will try to repair and mend household items and clothing. \n\n\n\nNo reservations or appointments are required\, but an advance sign-up gives priority over walk-ins or second items. One signed-up item per person. \n\n\n\nTo request an advance sign-up\, or if you have questions\, contact event coordinator Tom at tom.watson@kingcounty.gov or at 206-477-4481. \n\n\n\nFor more info about this program\, and a list of King County businesses offering repair\, visit www.KCecoconsumer.org. \n\n\n\n“At repair events\, we will try to work on small household and personal items (including some electronics and small furniture)\, as well as clothing and textiles\,” organizers said. \n\n\n\nSome restrictions: \n\nNo cell phones\, tablet computers or microwaves.\nNothing that uses gasoline.\nNo knife or tool sharpening.\nNo lengthy reconstructive repairs.\nNo major clothing alterations.\nItems brought in for repair\, including clothing\, must be clean.\n\n\n\n\nOrganizers said that they may decline to work on any item – in advance or at the event – depending on the item\, the type of repair needed\, the fixers available\, or for other reasons. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis will be the second King County repair event at the Burien Library this year. \n\n\n\n“Hope to see you there\, and hope we can help!” \n\n\n\nFor more info\, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/207128828873687/
