DESCRIPTION:Join a community of queer environmentalists for Burien Earth Gay on Saturday\, Sept. 30\, 2023!\n\nVolunteers are needed from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe City of Burien\, QPOC Hikers\, Washington Conservation Action\, Birds Connect Seattle\, Patagonia\, and Queers4Conservation are partnering to host this inclusive celebration of the Earth.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis event is family friendly\, open to everyone\, in particular LGBTQ+ folx and our allies.\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’ll be enjoying fun activities and at Burien’s Salmon Creek Ravine\, including pulling weeds\, birding\, a nature walk with plant identification\, litter pick up\, and more. Join us to help restore our park and celebrate Earth the queer way!\n\n\n\n\n\nAccessing the site includes walking and a moderate slope\, but there will be a shuttle available from the nearby Goodwill parking lot. We will do an accessible ‘bird sit’ around in the park. Nature walk includes a slow walk up a moderate slope. Litter pick up will involve walking but litter grabbers will be provided to minimize stooping. Restoration involves stooping and bending\, pulling weed species\, come dressed for the weather and weed pulling. Gloves and tools provided.\nWhat to Bring\nBring a reusable water bottle if you have one! Wear shoes that are good for walking and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Dress for the weather. SUMMARY:SeaTac/Tukwila Rotary's 'Auto R-EV-olution Exposition' fundraiser will be Saturday\, Sept. 30
DESCRIPTION:All are invited this coming Saturday\, Sept. 30\, 2023 to Westfield Southcenter Mall in Tukwila for an electric vehicle exposition featuring many of the top EV brand cars including BMW\, Mini Cooper\, Polestar\, and Tesla. \n\n\n\nThis event\, sponsored by the Rotary Club of SeaTac & Tukwila\, will run from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. \n\n\n\nLocal EV organizations will be promoting many of their vehicles including the Tesla Owners Association of Washington\, Seattle Electric Vehicles Association\, EZRaider off road vehicles\, and Trek Bikes.   \n\n\n\nLocal high schools will be featuring their programs in robotics and automotive technology. \n\n\n\nYou’ll be able to see the world’s fastest EV dragster. The University of Washington will also be bringing its Formula race car. RUINED EV’s of Portland will be exhibiting some of their uniquely modified vehicles. There will also be “Touch-A-Truck” exhibits with a fire truck from Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority and an ambulance from American Medical Response (AMR). \n\n\n\nTickets Available Online\n\n\n\n$10 tickets are available online now through Eventbrite here (Type in AUTO\, then look for “AUTO R-EV-OLUTION”) or pay at the event.   \n\n\n\nChildren 12 and under are free.  \n\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of SeaTac-Tukwila. Funds earned will focus primarily on supporting the students of our community with scholarships\, safe housing\, clothing and food. The Rotary also provides support to our local food pantry\, refugee resource center\, and other community projects.

DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join Burien Actors Theatre (BAT) on Saturday\, Sept. 30\, 2023 for BAT’s presentation on plans for a new performing and visual arts center in Burien.  \nThe presentation from 2 to 4 p.m. at Burien’s Boulevard Park Library explains early LMN Architect drawings\, discusses reasons for building the space\, and seeks ideas and feedback. \nPlus\, BAT is there to answer your questions. \nAs we previously reported\, BAT’s proposed ~$48 million venue would be located at a county-owned lot at SW 150th Street and 4th Ave SW that already has $10 million earmarked to it by the county since it would include housing. \nBAT Creative Director Eric Dickman said the proposed location is “right in the middle” of the city\, “which is really good.” “It’s also near transit – literally near transit – so the nice thing about that is if you were to ride the new F line from Seattle\, your bus would drop you off right at our door\,” he said. “And if you were to take light rail and you were to take the shuttle in\, you’re also right at our door.” \nDickman and Managing Director Maggie Larrick also emphasized that having an active arts center like this would surely reduce crime\, as more people would be present. \nThe Boulevard Park Library is located at 12015 Roseberg Ave S.\, Burien\, WA 98168 (map below). While the parking lot is small\, there is some street parking on Roseberg near the library as well as on 120th. \nThe presentation will be in the Library’s meeting room and is wheelchair accessible.
