SUMMARY:‘FREE Tree Point' Giveaway event will be weekend of June 29-30
DESCRIPTION:Burien’s Three Tree Point neighborhood will become ‘Free Tree Point\,’ starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday\, June 29\, and continuing through Sunday\, June 30\, 2024. \nIt’s the same as a last year – residents put out unwanted\, usable items by the street for the taking\, and people can take what they need\, all FREE. \nThere is no haul away for items not picked up\, so residents must take back that which doesn’t go away at 4 p.m. on Sunday\, June 30. \nThe Plan: \n\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, June 29\, and Sunday\, June 30\, 2024\, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.\, residents of Three Tree Point who live on SW 172nd Street\, SW 171st Street\, Three Tree Point Lane and Maplewild Ave SW are encouraged to set out things they don’t need anymore outside their homes/driveways.\n\n\n\nOrganizers strongly suggest adding a large “FREE STUFF” sign to indicate that stuff is free and up for grabs.\n\n\n\nOnce stuff is out and labeled\, it’s up for grabs in a kind of free neighborhood giveaway event – just drive/stroll through the area and take what you like!\n\n\n\nThere will be no “holds” allowed on items – everything is up to you to haul and you cannot knock on doors or bother homeowners. It’s first come\, first served!\n\n\n\nThere is no main organizer to this event\, and we strongly encourage participants to treat it as another experiment to see if it works (last year’s was the first).\n\n\n\nRemember – put out some good stuff you don’t need\, not junk or garbage\, and let’s turn this neighborhood into FREE Tree Point!

Much like today\, many in the community were faced with difficult economic conditions that left them in need of food resources. We were there then. We are here now. \nCurrent food bank programs include daytime\, and seniors-only food distributions; expanded home deliveries; mobile food bank program to three senior housing sites; pop-up food pantries; a Baby Pantry for diapers\, formula\, baby foods and more; cultural foods buying program and grocery rescue. Intake services are provided in nine languages. \nIn 2023\, we served over 37\,000 households\, 107\,000 individuals and distributed over 1.4 million pounds of food. \nMore info here: https://www.whitecenterfoodbank.org/ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEDITOR’S NOTE: Since South King Media’s creation in 2007\, we have provided tens of thousands of dollars worth of FREE promotional and marketing services to local nonprofits and organizations. If you’re part of a nonprofit and have a fundraiser event or other news\, please email details to scott@southkingmedia.com. Thanks!
