SUMMARY:Scout Troop #375's Christmas Tree Recycling will be weekend of Jan. 4–5
DESCRIPTION:St. Francis Scout Troop #375 and #8375 will again host their annual Christmas Tree Recycling event on Saturday\, Jan. 4\, and Sunday\, Jan. 5\, 2025\, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Burien Eagles Hall (map below). \nThe event offers residents an eco-friendly way to dispose of their holiday trees while supporting the Scouts in raising funds for camps and other activities. \nA $5 donation per tree is requested for drop-offs. \nCurbside Pickup Available\nFor convenience\, the Scouts are again offering curbside pickup for a $20 fee. \nFor more information and sign up please use the link below (Burien\, Normandy Park\, Des Moines and White Center residents only). \nThe charge for a pick up is $20 for the first tree and $5 for every additional tree. \nSchedule your pick up here: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEU5ouGb3UOYWEc9_Cft6QbO54qUzwxUJRlDTGC43nBejaNw/viewform \n“Please come and support our efforts to earn money for Scout camps and other adventures\,” said a Scout spokesperson. \nMore info on these local Scouts is available here.

Let’s begin the New Year and the month of January by heading north from Burien Town Square into and around the Chelsea Park Neighborhood this Sunday\, Jan. 5\, 2025. \nOther times we’ve found these scenic gems in the neighborhood: Dottie Harper Park\, Burien Community Garden\, white-painted tree trunks\, Bird-House House\, Stormwater Park\, Green House\, Purple House. What new things will we spot this time around? \n\n\n\n\n\nSee you with rain gear on!\n\nDate: Sunday\, Jan. 5\, 2025 (Rain or shine\, though it looks like you’ll be wanting your most colorful umbrella and galoshes!)\nTime: 2 p.m. meet-up. Walking starts at 2:15 p.m.\nWho: This is a FREE event open to walkers of every level and ability\, plus four-legged friends. Participants walk at their own pace.\nPlace: Meet on the grassy knoll at Burien Town Square (480 SW 152nd Street\, Burien\, WA. at the corner of SW 152nd & 5th Place SW).\nDistance: About 2.5 miles\, round trip. Mostly flat. Please print out a copy of the map below if you’d like one as we’re walking.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n “Getting out on two feet (or two wheels) is a chance to entertain your ‘Inner Explorer’\, to discover visual and architectural details you might not otherwise see. One of the bonuses is the varied route. I don’t know about you\, but when I’m in my car\, I generally drive the same route every time. Bo-ring! When I’m walking or riding my bike\, my curious nature is heightened and I travel roads I’ve never seen before (even though I grew up here in Burien).” \n\n\n– Maureen WABI Burien President \n\n\n\n\nIntentions for Burien’s Walk-n-Talk:\n\n“Encourage active living to support physical and mental health.” (Part of Burien’s “Vision”.)\nInitiate conversation between friends and neighbors\, new and old.\nNurture the idea of our Town Square as the “living room” of Burien\, our center and gathering place.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Walk-n-Talks are enjoyed by folks from different communities coming together for conversation… a chance to talk to people one wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to chat with\, and get some exercise and fresh air at the same time. Walkers span the ages\, including tiny folks (Burien’s Walkers of the Future)\, and four-legged friends.
