DESCRIPTION:The Seattle Aquarium’s Beach Naturalist program is returning this summer\, offering visitors a chance to learn about the diverse marine life along local shorelines\, including at Seahurst Park Beach in Burien. \nOf note\, what may be the lowest tide of 2025 will be a -4.05 at 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday\, May 28 – definitely worth a trip to our wonderful local Seahurst Park Beach! \nThe program\, which places trained beach naturalists at popular low-tide locations\, aims to educate the public on how to explore intertidal areas while protecting marine animals and their habitats. \nVisitors can learn about sea stars\, barnacles\, moon snails\, and other fascinating beach-dwelling creatures. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSeahurst Park Beach Events\n\n\n\nNaturalists will be present at Seahurst Beach on the following dates and times: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, May 28\, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Low tide: -4.05 at 12:20 p.m.)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSaturday\, June 28\, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Low tide: -2.28 at 1:37 p.m.)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, July 25\, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Low tide: -2.63 at 11:52 a.m.)\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Beach Naturalist program connects people of all ages with marine life\, fostering a better understanding of the fragile shoreline ecosystem and how to enjoy it responsibly. \nFor more information\, visit seattleaquarium.org. \n\n\n\nPhoto of low tide at Burien Three Tree Point by Scott Schaefer.

DESCRIPTION:Regional leaders will gather Wednesday\, May 28\, 2025\, for the next Highline Forum\, a bi-monthly meeting bringing together cities\, school districts\, and the Port of Seattle to discuss issues related to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and the surrounding communities. \nThe 2:30–4:30 p.m. meeting will be held in a hybrid format\, both in-person at Burien City Hall and online via Microsoft Teams. \nDownload the full agenda packet here. \nHosted by the City of Burien\, the agenda includes a presentation by Burien Mayor Kevin Schilling\, along with updates on airport operations\, legislative priorities\, and local economic development initiatives. \nKey items include a review of the 2024 Stakeholder Advisory Round Table (StART) Annual Report\, presented by facilitator Andres Mantilla\, Port Community Engagement Manager Marco Milanese\, and Senior Federal Government Relations Manager Eric Schinfeld. \nIn addition\, State Government Relations Manager John Flanagan will brief the group on StART’s 2025 state legislative priorities. \nAlso on the agenda is a presentation on the Port’s Economic Development Partnership Grant Program by Port Economic Development Manager Annie Tran\, and a round-the-table sharing session by forum members. \nPublic comment will be accepted in three ways: in person\, via Microsoft Teams\, or by submitting written comments in advance by email.
