SUMMARY:White Center Food Bank’s ‘Taste of White Center’ returns Saturday\, June 28
DESCRIPTION:The White Center Food Bank will host its annual “Taste of White Center” event on Saturday\, June 28\, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.\, showcasing the neighborhood’s diverse restaurant community while raising funds to support vital food access programs. \nMore than 30 local eateries — including favorites like Puffy Pandy\, Sap Sap Lao Café\, El Catrín and Salvadorean Bakery — will participate in the family-friendly festival\, offering $5 tastings of items such as bánh mì\, tacos\, bubble tea\, pizza\, and desserts. \nAttendees will be able to purchase tasting tickets at the event’s central booth\, located at 16th Ave SW and 98th Street in downtown White Center (map below). \nEvent proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit the food bank\, while sponsorship dollars help participating restaurants cover food and operational costs. \nEach $5 ticket can be exchanged for a small plate\, drink\, or dessert at participating restaurants. \nA printed menu with a map and dish descriptions will be provided to each guest. \nQuantities are limited and offered on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nThe event will also include music\, a kids’ activity area\, vendors\, and other family-friendly attractions. \nWhite Center Food Bank has long been a critical resource for South King County. In 2024\, the organization served more than 13\,600 individuals and distributed over 1.6 million pounds of food\, with services available in nine languages and outreach extending to seniors\, infants\, and culturally diverse communities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtwork: Theary Chhim\, PharmD\, Designer\n\n\n\nMore information\, including a full list of participating restaurants and event updates\, is available at: \n\n\n\nwhitecenterfoodbank.org/taste-of-white-center

SUMMARY:Become a community scientist at Environmental Science Center’s ‘BioBlitz’ on Saturday\, June 28
DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join Burien’s Environmental Science Center (ESC) at Seahurst Park on Saturday\, June 28\, 2025 for the second ‘BioBlitz’ event. \nThis is a great opportunity to help out by being a community scientist. \n“Help us document which species of plants and animals are present at the park during one snap-shot in time\,” organizers said. “This event will help us better understand what animals to expect in this habitat and track changes over time. Anyone can participate and become a community scientist!” \nTake a walk anywhere in the park during regular open hours\, take photos of the plants and animals you see\, and upload them to the iNaturalist app  or website under the ESC Seahurst Bioblitz 2025 project. \nStop by the park on June 28 between Noon – 2 p.m. to get help from ESC staff identifying organisms\, learn about the low tide creatures\, and find resources to help you become a community scientist. \nOrganizers will be at the front of the park and on the beach during low tide; just look for the brown vests. SR3 will also have their Marine Mammal Stewards available to help you learn about these cool animals in the Salish Sea. \nYou do not have to know how to identify any organisms to participate! By uploading photos to iNaturalist\, you allow other community members and scientists to identify organisms for you. \nCan’t make it down to the park that day? Consider joining ESC’s online project to help identify organisms after the BioBlitz day! \n“We need help searching for and identifying what’s in the park. By utilizing our community members to do science\, you all can help inform and increase our understanding of this local habitat.” \nLearn more at: https://bit.ly/4mVL04R. \nFor questions\, accommodations\, and more information reach out to ESC’s Community Engagement Manager at katy@environmentalsciencecenter.org. \nThanks to the City of Burien and King County 4Culture for funding this important research. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Details:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT: Seahurst Park Bioblitz\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHEN: Saturday\, June 28\, 2025\, Noon – 2 p.m.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHERE: Seahurst Park\, 1600 SW Seahurst Park Road:
