DESCRIPTION:Community members are being urged to roll up their sleeves Thursday\, Feb. 5\, when a Blood Drive will be held at Burien City Hall\, offering area residents a chance to help meet ongoing blood supply needs. \nThe drive will be held in the City Hall meeting room from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.\, with a closure for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. \nAppointments are required for the best donation experience\, and same day appointments may be available at most locations. \nDonors can book one hour appointments by scanning the QR code below\, or by visiting bloodworksnw.org/giveblood. \nPhoto identification is required to donate. \nFor safety\, the city said no visitors under 16 are allowed at donation sites. \nDonors are also asked to eat a hearty meal and drink plenty of fluids before arriving.

DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Burien and White Center will host a benefit concert and dance party Thursday\, Feb. 5\, at Tim’s Tavern in White Center\, with proceeds supporting local programs and organizations. \nThe fundraiser concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Tim’s Tavern in White Center (map below). \nThe evening will include live music by The Pazific\, an eight piece Latin funk and soul band\, along with a Latin dance lesson\, raffles and other activities\, organizers said. \nTickets are $25\, with all proceeds benefiting the Rotary Club of Burien and White Center. In addition\, 10 percent of all food and drink sales from the evening will be donated to the club\, according to organizers. \nThe fundraiser is intended to support Rotary programs and community organizations in the Burien and White Center area\, including scholarships and local service projects. \n“For more than 70 years\, the Rotary Club of Burien and White Center has proudly served our community by supporting local causes\, scholarships and service projects\,” Rotarians said in an announcement. \nOrganizers said the club supports groups including the White Center Food Bank\, WestSide Baby\, Highline Schools Foundation\, the Environmental Science Center\, Shop with a Cop and scholarships for local graduating seniors. \nGet Tickets Here
