SUMMARY:‘Highline Twin Peaks Festival’ on Saturday\, Feb. 28 will honor TV show & iconic local Artist Bruce Bickford
DESCRIPTION:The Highline Heritage Museum will host a daylong “Highline Twin Peaks Festival” on Saturday\, Feb. 28\, featuring art\, film and music tied to the cult classic TV series and the work of longtime local artist/animator Bruce Bickford\, according to the museum. \nThe event will be “a celebration of art\, film\, music\, and damn fine coffee\,” organizers said. \nThe festival coincides with the unveiling of a new permanent exhibit in the museum’s main gallery honoring Bickford\, a lifelong local resident and self-taught artist best known for his clay figure animations. \nSadly\, he passed away in 2019. \nThe museum said Bickford explored many styles and\, in the early 2000s\, created a diorama of the fictional Pacific Northwest town of Twin Peaks from the 1990 television series. \n\nPart of Bickford’s “Twin Peaks” diorama.\n\nBelow is a short video where Bickford explains some of his work on the diorama: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd a great profile by Ralph Bevins: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFestival programming will begin with “Twin Peaks Day” on Feb. 28 from Noon to 5 p.m. at the museum. \nAdditional evening programs will be held at the Tin Room Theatre\, including “Decoding David Lynch’s Visual Language” from 4:30 to 6 p.m.\, followed by “Dinner and Movie: Twin Peaks Pilot” from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.\, according to the museum. \n“Let’s celebrate the Pacific Northwest\,” the Highline Heritage Museum said in its event announcement\, inviting the community to celebrate both Bickford and “Twin Peaks” during the Feb. 28 festival. \nThe museum described the festival as “a celebration of art\, film\, music\, and damn fine coffee\,” tying together the region’s creative culture with the legacy of a local artist whose work reflected the atmosphere and imagination of the Pacific Northwest. \nSet in a foggy Pacific Northwest logging town\, Twin Peaks became a cult favorite for its mix of crime drama\, eccentric characters and dreamlike storytelling – check out some clips below: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPartners listed for the event include the Highline Heritage Museum\, 4Culture\, the Tin Room and the City of SeaTac\, according to the event flyer.
