SUMMARY:Public comment period for Port of Seattle’s Draft EIS for airport SAMP runs through July 21
DESCRIPTION:The Port of Seattle announced that the public comment period is now underway for the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) Near-Term Projects (NTPs) at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). \nThe 60-day public comment period began May 22\, 2026 and will run through July 21\, 2026 at 4 p.m. PDT \nHere’s more info from the Port: \n\nSEA serves as a gateway for the over 8 million people who live in our state\, and for the 1 million more expected to move to the Puget Sound by 2035. To meet our region’s future needs and support a great traveler experience\, the Port of Seattle proposed a plan to guide future development for the airport. The planned projects will not only make SEA more efficient but will include benefits for people using and working at the airport\, as well as provide transportation improvements in and around the airport. \nThe DEIS is a crucial step under the SEPA process. This process ensures that public agencies assess the environmental impacts of proposed actions and provide opportunities for public input. \nComments should provide sufficient detail for the agency to understand the commenter’s position and why the issues raised are important to the decision-making process. Public comments can be submitted online\, by email\, by regular mail\, or in person at one of the four in-person public meetings taking place in June. The same information will be presented at all meetings in an open house format. Language translation assistance will be available at all public meetings in addition to childcare services. \nWe encourage you to visit the SAMP website to explore details about SAMP\, the proposed NTPs\, the SEPA process\, and how to participate during the public comment period. Your feedback is valuable to us! Sign up for future updates. \n\nPublic meeting information\n\n\n\n\nDate\nTime\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, June 22\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nGlacier Middle School\nEntrance lobby/commons\n2450 S 142nd St.\, SeaTac\, WA 98168\n\n\nTuesday\, June 23\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nMount Rainier High School\nCafeteria space\n22450 19th Ave. S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198\n\n\nThursday\, June 25\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nWildwood Elementary School\nMultipurpose room\n2405 S 300th St.\, Federal Way\, WA 98003\n\n\nSaturday\, June 27\, 2026\n10 a.m.–12 p.m.\nGregory Heights Elementary School\nCafeteria and gym\n16201 16th Ave. SW\, Burien\, WA 98166\n\n\n\n\nPhysical copies of the SEPA DEIS can be viewed at: \n\nThe Conference Center at SEA\, 17801 International Blvd.\, SeaTac\, WA 98158\nPort of Seattle Headquarters\, Pier 69\, 2711 Alaskan Way\, Seattle\, WA 98121\nBurien Library\, 400 SW 152nd St.\, Suite 100\, Burien\, WA 98166\nDes Moines Library\, 21620 11th Ave. S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198\nValley View Library\, 17850 Military Road S\, SeaTac\, WA 98188\nFederal Way 320th Library\, 848 S 320th St.\, Federal Way\, WA 98003\nWhite Center Library\, 1409 SW 107th St.\, Seattle\, WA 98146\nTukwila Library\, 14380 Tukwila International Blvd.\, Tukwila\, WA 98168\nVashon Library\, 17210 Vashon Hwy.
