SUMMARY:Public comment period for Port of Seattle’s Draft EIS for airport SAMP runs through July 21
DESCRIPTION:The Port of Seattle announced that the public comment period is now underway for the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) Near-Term Projects (NTPs) at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). \nThe 60-day public comment period began May 22\, 2026 and will run through July 21\, 2026 at 4 p.m. PDT \nHere’s more info from the Port: \n\nSEA serves as a gateway for the over 8 million people who live in our state\, and for the 1 million more expected to move to the Puget Sound by 2035. To meet our region’s future needs and support a great traveler experience\, the Port of Seattle proposed a plan to guide future development for the airport. The planned projects will not only make SEA more efficient but will include benefits for people using and working at the airport\, as well as provide transportation improvements in and around the airport. \nThe DEIS is a crucial step under the SEPA process. This process ensures that public agencies assess the environmental impacts of proposed actions and provide opportunities for public input. \nComments should provide sufficient detail for the agency to understand the commenter’s position and why the issues raised are important to the decision-making process. Public comments can be submitted online\, by email\, by regular mail\, or in person at one of the four in-person public meetings taking place in June. The same information will be presented at all meetings in an open house format. Language translation assistance will be available at all public meetings in addition to childcare services. \nWe encourage you to visit the SAMP website to explore details about SAMP\, the proposed NTPs\, the SEPA process\, and how to participate during the public comment period. Your feedback is valuable to us! Sign up for future updates. \n\nPublic meeting information\n\n\n\n\nDate\nTime\nLocation\n\n\n\n\nMonday\, June 22\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nGlacier Middle School\nEntrance lobby/commons\n2450 S 142nd St.\, SeaTac\, WA 98168\n\n\nTuesday\, June 23\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nMount Rainier High School\nCafeteria space\n22450 19th Ave. S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198\n\n\nThursday\, June 25\, 2026\n6–8 p.m.\nWildwood Elementary School\nMultipurpose room\n2405 S 300th St.\, Federal Way\, WA 98003\n\n\nSaturday\, June 27\, 2026\n10 a.m.–12 p.m.\nGregory Heights Elementary School\nCafeteria and gym\n16201 16th Ave. SW\, Burien\, WA 98166\n\n\n\n\nPhysical copies of the SEPA DEIS can be viewed at: \n\nThe Conference Center at SEA\, 17801 International Blvd.\, SeaTac\, WA 98158\nPort of Seattle Headquarters\, Pier 69\, 2711 Alaskan Way\, Seattle\, WA 98121\nBurien Library\, 400 SW 152nd St.\, Suite 100\, Burien\, WA 98166\nDes Moines Library\, 21620 11th Ave. S\, Des Moines\, WA 98198\nValley View Library\, 17850 Military Road S\, SeaTac\, WA 98188\nFederal Way 320th Library\, 848 S 320th St.\, Federal Way\, WA 98003\nWhite Center Library\, 1409 SW 107th St.\, Seattle\, WA 98146\nTukwila Library\, 14380 Tukwila International Blvd.\, Tukwila\, WA 98168\nVashon Library\, 17210 Vashon Hwy. SUMMARY:Deadline to apply for vacant Burien City Council seat is Friday\, June 26
DESCRIPTION:Burien residents interested in serving on the City Council have until 4 p.m. this Friday\, June 26\, to apply for appointment to the vacant Position No. 2 seat. \nCity Council Position No. 2 became vacant when Linda Akey resigned on May 18\, 2026. \nThe City Council will appoint a Burien resident to fill the seat\, with the appointment expected to begin on or around July 27. \nThe appointee will serve until the results of the November 2027 general election are certified and the elected successor has taken the oath of office. \nBurien’s seven member City Council serves as the city’s governing body\, establishing policies and laws\, adopting the annual budget\, approving appropriations\, contracting for services and granting franchises. \nBurien City Councilmembers serve staggered four year terms\, with roughly half of the council seats up for election every two years. All councilmembers are elected at large and represent the city as a whole rather than specific districts. \nTo qualify for appointment\, applicants must be at least 18-years-old\, a United States citizen with no felony convictions\, and a registered voter who has lived within Burien city limits for at least one year before the appointment. \nApplicants must submit a letter of interest\, resume and completed application to the city by the June 26 deadline. Letters of support from community members are optional. \nApplications may be submitted in person\, by mail or by email to cityclerk@burienwa.gov. \nApplication materials and additional information are available at: \nburienwa.gov/council

SUMMARY:‘On the road again’ is theme for 7 Stories event on Friday\, June 26
DESCRIPTION:The next installment of the popular “7 Stories” community storytelling series will be held Friday night\, June 26 at the Highline Heritage Museum in Burien\, with storytellers sharing personal experiences inspired by the theme “on the road again.” \nThe free event begins at 7 p.m. at the museum\, located at 819 SW 152nd Street (map below)\, and is part of this monthly storytelling program\, which invites community members to tell true\, personal stories before a live audience. \nThis monthly program is designed to build community\, foster empathy and celebrate diversity through storytelling. Each event features seven storytellers sharing real life stories connected to a common theme. The stories are told rather than read\, and each presentation is limited to seven minutes. \n7 Stories is held on the fourth Friday of each month and regularly draws residents from Burien and surrounding South King County communities to hear stories that are personal\, heartfelt and authentic. \nStorytellers Needed\nCommunity members interested in telling a story are encouraged to sign up in advance. Organizers provide coaching and support for both experienced storytellers and first time participants. \nThe July theme is one of several planned for the 2026 season\, which also includes “Animal Tales” in July\, “Karma” in August\, “Lessons Learned” in September and “Skeletons in the Closet” in October. \nAdmission is free\, and organizers welcome both storytellers and audience members. \nIf you are interested in telling your own seven-minute true story at one of those events\, please sign-up at https://www.burienculturehub.org/7storiessignup. \nEvent will also be Livestreamed on Facebook\n\nNOTE: If you can’t make it in person\, be sure to “Like” us on Facebook here to get a notification\, as we hope to stream it live on that page starting at 7 p.m. \n\nThe monthly storytelling series is presented by The B-Town Blog\, Highline Heritage Museum\, Burien Culture Hub\, Burien Arts Association\, the City of Burien and 4Culture. \nThe Highline Heritage Museum is located at 819 SW 152nd Street:
