DESCRIPTION:Burien’s Environmental Science Center will host a free outdoor creative writing program on Saturday\, Aug. 1 at Seahurst Park\, offering residents a guided chance to write\, observe and connect with the park’s forest\, beach\, streams and wetlands. \n“Writing Seahurst Park: Landscapes” will run from Noon to 2 p.m. and is part of ESC’s new outdoor creative writing series this summer. It will be held at the ESC building at Seahurst Park. \nThe program is best for ages 16 and older\, and registration is required at bit.ly/4wWh4db. \nThe session will be led by Gabriela Denise Frank\, a Burien-based literary artist\, editor and educator whose writing and visual art have appeared in Fairy Tale Review\, Camas Journal\, Northwest Review\, EcoTheo Review\, Puerto del Sol\, The Rumpus and “I Sing the Salmon Home\,” an anthology celebrating the Northwest’s salmon. \nESC said the program will encourage attendees to “slow down and connect with their bodies and senses” in different landscapes throughout Seahurst Park.
