DESCRIPTION:Highline Musical Theatre (HMT) invites audiences of all ages to journey to a land far\, far away with its upcoming production of “Shrek KIDS\,” running Aug. 28–30 and Sept. 1–3 at Highline College in Des Moines. \nOpening night on Aug. 28 is SOLD OUT. \n\nPerformances will be 5:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday\, Aug. 29\, 4 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday\, Aug. 30\, and 7 p.m. Tuesday\, Sept. 1\, Wednesday\, Sept. 2\, and Thursday\, Sept. 3 (see ticket chart below). \nShrek KIDS is a perfect introduction to live theatre for young audiences\, including children as young as 2. \nThe experience begins before the curtain even rises\, with special treats and family-friendly activities in the lobby starting 30 minutes before each performance. \nAfter the show\, young audience members will have the chance to meet and take photos with characters from the production. \nBased on the beloved film\, “Shrek KIDS” follows Shrek\, a solitary ogre whose peaceful life in his swamp is turned upside down when a group of fairytale characters is banished to his home by the ambitious Lord Farquaad. Determined to reclaim his swamp\, Shrek sets off with his wisecracking companion Donkey and soon finds himself on a quest to rescue the spirited Princess Fiona. \nBut this is no ordinary fairytale.
