DESCRIPTION:As part of the America 250 commemorations\, the Pacific Northwest Railroad Archive (PNRA) will host “America 250: Revisiting the Bicentennial Freedom Train” on Saturday\, Sept. 12. \nThis FREE event – which will run from 1–4 p.m. at PNRA’s Burien location (map below) – will include a group of presentations and discussions with people who worked on the Freedom Train project celebrating America’s Bicentennial. Presenters and panelist include people with experience on the project in many different ways. \nThe event will begin with Ed Berntsen and Doyle McCormack sharing how the idea of the Freedom Train was born and how it became a reality. This vital history will be followed by presentations by people who worked on the project\, from engineers to designers. In addition to individual presentations\, the event will include a moderated panel discussion. \nThe event will take place in person at PNRA’s Burien location as well as online. Visitors can also expect roving artists\, musical performances\, a special night market and opportunities to create illuminated art. \nAttendees are encouraged to take part in the experience by wearing glowing costumes or bringing a favorite lantern. \n\n\n\nFree Lantern Making Workshop Sept. 11\nFamilies can also attend a free lantern-making workshop from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday\, Sept. 11\, at the Burien Library.
