DESCRIPTION:AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides in-person tax assistance to anyone\, free of charge\, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income.  \n\n\n\nStarting on Friday\, Feb. 3\, and continuing through Sunday\, April 16\, 2023\, AARP Tax-Aide will be providing services at the Burien Library (400 SW 152nd Street). \n\n\n\nTax-Aide hours will be 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sundays.  \n\n\n\nAppointments are required and may be made online at Tax Aide Registration (aarp.org) or by leaving a voice mail message at (206) 657-6018.  A volunteer will return your call and schedule your appointment. \n\n\n\nOnce the site is open in February\, taxpayers may also stop by during open hours and a volunteer there will help them make an appointment.   \n

Built by Hollister Sprague – Boeing’s first lawyer – this incredible home features the largest private pipe organ west of the Mississippi. The ballroom (where the fundraiser will be held) features large arched wooden beams\, high vaulted ceilings\, and three pipe organ chambers. The parking lot stretches along the trail and the river. We’ll plan to meet at the northern end of the lot\, closest to Lake Washington. \n\n\n\nThe walk will take us south on the Cedar River trail for 1.5 miles. Along the way we’ll pass the Renton airport and the Renton Memorial Stadium. DESCRIPTION:The Exchange Club of Highline Auction and Dinner – coming Saturday\, March 25\, 2023 – is an annual event that is not to be missed. \n\nDoors will open at 5:45 p.m.\, with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette School’s Auditorium (map below).\n\nThis fundraiser is an opportunity for members of the Highline community to come together and support hyper local charities and organizations.\n\nThe event includes a silent auction\, a live auction\, games\, contests\, and a sit-down dinner with wine and beer.\n\nThe silent auction features a wide variety of items donated by local businesses and community members. These can include gift cards\, vacation packages\, art\, jewelry\, and more. Guests can peruse the items and bid on them throughout the evening.\n\nThe live auction is a high-energy event featuring unique and valuable items. The auctioneer will work to get the highest bids possible for items like one-of-a-kind experiences\, vacation packages\, and concert tickets. It’s always exciting to watch the bidding wars unfold and see who will go home a winner!\n\nThroughout the evening\, guests can enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Nirmal’s Restaurant in Pioneer Square.\n\nThe menu this year features a range of options\, including salmon\, vegetarian pasta\, or chicken.\n\nThere will be plenty of opportunities to socialize and network with other members of the Highline community.\n\nALL proceeds from the event go to support local charities and organizations. Beneficiaries include organizations that work to support veterans\, children in need\, and victims of domestic violence. DESCRIPTION:From our friends at WABI Burien: \n\n\n\nAfter a several year hiatus\, WABI Burien will restart organized community bike rides\, beginning on Wednesday\, March 29\, 2023. \nOur first ride will take place on a section of the beautiful Green River Trail on Wednesday\, March 29 beginning at 10 a.m. The trail links industrial lands to pastoral landscapes\, parks\, communities\, and river views throughout the route. \n\n\n\nBikers will meet at the Green River trail parking area in Tukwila located behind the Holiday Inn-Express and cycle south toward Kent. \nWe will plan to bike over a 6 mile segment of the trail for a total of 12 miles round trip. The trip is estimated to take 75-90 minutes\, including a break to rehydrate. \nAll participants will need to bring their own bike\, a bike safety helmet\, and are expected to follow safety guidelines as outlined in the Ride Smart Biking tips. \nWe also advise all bikers to bring along: water for hydration\, sunglasses\, sunscreen\, and a small snack (granola bar\, dried fruit\, nuts\, etc). \nDate: Wednesday\, March 29\, 2023. \nTime: Meet a little before 10 a.m. so we can begin biking at 10:00. \nPlace: Green River trail parking located behind Holiday Inn-Express\, 90 Andover Park E\, Tukwila\, WA 98188 (map below). \nDistance: About 12 miles\, round trip.
