The starting location will also feature plant sales and community organizations. \n“On the tour\, you’ll visit unique home and community gardens\, meet local gardeners\, and see how Burien grows – one yard\, one block\, one conversation at a time\,” organizers said. \nAfter visiting gardens across Burien\, attendees will finish the tour at Huckleberry Gardens Nursery\, where organizers say participants will receive a celebratory drink and have the opportunity to enter raffles and vote for their favorite garden. \nDiscover Burien said proceeds from ticket sales will support botanical beautification projects in downtown Burien. \nThe event is organized by community volunteers and is designed to connect neighbors\, showcase local gardening ideas and celebrate Pride weekend. \nOrganizers noted that some gardens are not wheelchair accessible and that the tour map will include accessibility information. DESCRIPTION:The White Center Community Development Association (WCCDA) is inviting residents and supporters of local businesses to attend a free community market and fundraiser at The HUB on Saturday\, May 31. \nThe event will run from 2 to 7 p.m. at The White Center HUB\, located at 10829 8th Ave. SW (map below). \nOrganizers said the market will feature local vendors\, creatives and makers\, along with donation-based creative activities and hourly raffles. \nProceeds from the fundraiser will support WCCDA programming. \nAttendees will also have an opportunity to learn about services offered throughout The HUB’s three floors and explore potential future uses for Savusa Hall\, according to the organization. \n“Our hope is for White Center to come out to witness the great work that continues to take place\, be in community with one another\, and celebrate with us!” Economic Development Manager Thearina Leng said in a statement. \nLeng added that the fundraiser reflects the organization’s commitment to fostering opportunity and empowerment in the community. \nThe event is being organized by WCCDA’s Economic Development team\, which serves youth and young adults ages 12 to 24 in White Center through youth programming\, entrepreneurship opportunities and workforce development initiatives. \nAccording to WCCDA\, programs include financial and community wellness internships\, creative arts workshops and opportunities for participants to meet local business owners and community leaders. The organization said its goal is to provide a safe environment where young people can gain practical skills while also seeing themselves represented within the community. \nWCCDA said it prioritizes serving BIPOC\, immigrant\, refugee\, low income and justice involved youth. \nParking on 8th Avenue SW will be prohibited during the event\, and parking on The HUB campus may be limited. Organizers encourage attendees to carpool\, park along Southwest 108th Street or use public parking at Dick Thurnau Memorial Park. \nFounded in 2002\, the WCCDA is a nonprofit organization serving White Center and unincorporated King County.
