Highline Heritage Museum to host free reception for Vicky Hartley exhibit Sunday, May 31

The Highline Heritage Museum will host a free public reception this Sunday, May 31, for a new exhibit honoring the life and legacy of longtime community activist and artist Vicky Hartley.
Titled “Cultivating Community Through Compassion in Action: The Highline History of Vicky Hartley,” the exhibit highlights Hartley’s impact on local people, politics, environmental causes and infrastructure projects throughout the Highline area.
The reception will run from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the museum in Olde Burien (map below).
Refreshments will be served, and attendees are encouraged to bring food to share potluck style.
The event is open to the public.
According to the museum, the exhibit was curated by Hartley’s partner of 32 years, Vince Cottone, and longtime friend Cydney Moore. Organizers said the exhibit offers a personalized look at Hartley’s life and work, including projects that continue to operate more than a year after her passing.
As we previously reported, the exhibit is now on display in the museum’s window along SW152nd Street and will remain on view through the end of July.
Museum organizers said the exhibit aims to celebrate Hartley’s lasting influence across the Highline community.
