Burien City Council holding public hearing on data center moratorium & more Monday, July 13
July 13 @ 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

The Burien City Council will hold a public hearing Monday, July 13, on a proposed moratorium on new data centers while also considering new state-required housing regulations, reviewing a potential transfer of development rights program, and beginning the process of narrowing candidates to fill the vacant Position No. 2 council seat.
The City of Burien said it received 14 applications for that vacant seat before the application period closed June 26. Councilmembers received the applications for review on June 29, and at Monday’s meeting are expected to narrow the field by selecting five finalists for interviews. Those interviews are scheduled to take place during the council’s July 27 meeting, when lawmakers are expected to appoint a new member.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Burien City Hall (map below), and can be viewed live on Comcast TV Channel 21, via Zoom here and via live-stream here.
