Burien Eagles BBQ fundraiser for K9s for Warriors is Sunday, Sept. 8

Burien Eagles will be holding a BBQ fundraiser for K9s For Warriors on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, from 1 – 4 p.m.
Roughly 20 Veterans take their own lives every day. To help combat this national crisis, Burien Eagles Secretary Nikki Sharp is hosting a BBQ For K9s For Warriors to create awareness and raise funds.
The members of the American Legin Burien Post 134 are also supporting this event.
“It is heartening to see the Burien community still supporting our veterans who have given so much to their country and community,” Chuck Rangel, Commander, American Legion Burien Post said. “The K9s for vets is a long admired program helping our wounded vets overcome certain issues with the assistance of ‘man’s best friend’.”
“We encourage all Burienites and all other Highline area residents to get behind this worthy program and support those who gave so much for you.”
Have some good BBQ, meet some new neighbors, and talk to a veteran or two. We all need each other.
What is K9s For Warriors?
Determined to end veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly-trained Service Dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.
Event Details
Advance purchase of BBQ plates are imperative to make this fundraiser a success, and organizers are requesting that people purchase tickets in advance.
Gift baskets will be raffled off the day of the event.
