Learn to turn kitchen scraps Into compost at free Burien workshop on Wednesday, June 3

Residents interested in reducing food waste and improving their gardens are invited to attend a free Community Vermicomposting Workshop and Starter Kit Giveaway in Burien on Wednesday, June 3.
According to the City of Burien, the workshop will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at Transform Burien, located at 15623 Des Moines Memorial Drive South (map below).
The event will teach participants how to turn kitchen scraps into vermicompost for use in home gardens.
The workshop is being presented in partnership with the King County Solid Waste Division, the City of Burien and Transform Burien. Starter kits will be provided by Nature’s Footprint, according to event organizers.
The flyer for the event also lists participation from the Highline Area Food Bank and Recology.
Organizers said the workshop is intended to help community members learn practical ways to reduce household food waste while creating nutrient rich compost for gardening and planting.
