VOTE – you have until 8 p.m. on Aug. 6 to vote in the 2024 Primary Election
August 6, 2024 @ 8:00 pm
Burien area voters are gearing up for a crucial primary election on Aug. 6, 2024, that will shape the November ballot for key state and federal positions.
The primary will determine the top two candidates for governor, as three-term Democratic incumbent Jay Inslee steps down. Leading contenders include Attorney General Bob Ferguson, former Republican U.S. Representative Dave Reichert, State Senator Mark Mullet, and Republican Semi Bird.
Voters will also narrow the field for other statewide offices, including attorney general, where former U.S. Attorney Nick Brown faces State Senator Manka Dhingra and Pasco City Council member Pete Serrano.
All 10 of Washington’s U.S. House seats are up for election, along with one U.S. Senate seat. The primary also covers 123 state legislature races, 92 local races, and 94 local measures across the state.
Also, local icon Goodspaceguy is running again, for the 25th time. He is vying to unseat Sen. Maria Cantwell for the U.S. Senate.
Ballots were mailed to registered voters this week, and you have until Aug. 6, 2024 to return yours, either by mail (postmarked by Election Day) or by depositing them in an official drop box by 8 p.m.
Washington’s top-two primary system allows the two candidates with the most votes to advance to the general election, regardless of party affiliation.
Officials encourage voters to check their registration status and ballot information at VoteWA.gov. Those who miss the July 29 deadline for online registration can still register in person at county voting centers through Election Day.
With the state facing significant challenges and opportunities, from economic recovery to environmental issues, officials stress the importance of voter participation in shaping Washington’s future.
There are two ballot boxes (both will close at 8 p.m. on Aug. 6) in Burien:
- Burien Town Square Park
480 SW 152nd Street (corner of 5th Ave SW & SW 152nd Street)
