WABI Weekday Walkers return to SeaTac Botanical Garden on Wednesday, April 17

April 17 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am

From our friends at WABI Burien:

Let’s return to Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden this Wednesday, April 17, 2024, where the flowers are emerging and offering an ever-changing selection of natural beauty.

The garden had its origins in a private garden belonging to Elda Behm, a local gardening enthusiast. She called her garden Paradise Garden. When Elda’s garden was threatened by development of the third runway at the airport, a great community effort relocated the garden to its current location. Today there’s much to admire and explore, including the delightful Japanese Garden and the adjacent natural area. You can read more about the garden on the website.

We’ll start by the entrance to the flower garden, winding through the flowerbeds and Japanese garden, and then take a turn through the wooded trails in the natural part of the park. Trails could be muddy if it’s been raining and there are some ups and downs, though nothing too drastic. We’ll finish up back at the garden where you can take your time seeking out the blossoms of your choice.

Date: Wednesday, April 17, 2024 (Rain or shine).
Time: Meet a little before 9 a.m. so we can begin walking at 9 a.m.
Place: Park at Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, adjacent to the SeaTac Community Center, 13735 24th Avenue S., SeaTac, WA (map below).
Who: Walkers of every level and ability (dogs are welcome, too.).
Distance: Approx. 2 miles, round trip.
Time: About 60 minutes.
