Kennedy Catholic High School on Friday, April 19, 2024 that it has hired Michael Brooks as its new Girls Basketball Coach. 

Brooks joins the Lancers with over 10 years of college experience. He most recently served as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Seattle University for the 2023-2024 season.

Prior to Seattle University, Brooks was the head coach at Bradley University, a Division 1 school in Peoria, Illinois, from 2012-2016. He was an assistant at Bradley University for two seasons before taking over the program. From 2016-2021, Brooks was the head Girls Basketball coach at Stevens High School, in Rapid City, SD. At Stevens, he guided the program to a 71-25 record and to state runner-up in 2021. That same year, Brooks earned South Dakota Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Brooks began his coaching career in football with stops at Central Methodist University, Quincy University, and Creighton Prep. He also served as an assistant and co-head coach for Women’s Basketball at Central Methodist. A former three-sport athlete, Brooks has experience coaching basketball, football, and track at the high school and collegiate levels. A four-year football letter-winner at Western State University, Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and theatre and then a master’s degree in education from Central Methodist.

Brooks and his wife Andi reside in West Seattle with their daughter Britain (15) and son Jase (10).
