Tukwila Police officers assisted federal law enforcement on Saturday afternoon, June 14, 2025, after a group of demonstrators blocked the entrance to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facility, some carrying makeshift shields and reportedly damaging property, authorities said.
Police said that at around 3 p.m. Saturday, officers were requested by Federal Protective Services (FPS) police to help clear the roadway in front of the DHS facility after they became barricaded inside by protesters blocking the south entrance and exit.
According to a Tukwila Police statement, some demonstrators had removed street signs and posts to create a blockade, with reports of spray-painted property nearby.
Officers also noted that many individuals in the crowd were dressed in all black and carrying shields.
Tukwila officers, who have jurisdiction over the surrounding streets and sidewalks, gave repeated commands via loudspeaker for protesters to clear the drive. While many complied and continued their demonstration from the sidewalk, a contingent refused to leave the roadway.
“As officers began clearing the barricades, numerous individuals involved in the demonstration hurled frozen water bottles and rocks at our officers,” the department stated. “Officers were forced to deploy pepper spray and PepperBalls to successfully clear the drive.”
Tukwila Police emphasized that officers were not involved in any immigration enforcement activities and do not assist in questioning or detaining individuals based on immigration status or nationality.
“We would like to reiterate that our officers do not participate in immigration enforcement or otherwise assist in questioning or detaining individuals based on their immigration status or nationality in accordance with our policy and Washington State law,” police said.
DHS personnel also assisted in clearing the drive.
Tukwila officers departed the scene after the roadway was cleared. No arrests were made by Tukwila police and no injuries were reported.

People in Tukwila are beyond nuts. It is okay for criminals to throw things at police but the big deal is that they don’t do immigration enforcement. These are the type of people you want in your community? People who fly the flag of their home country yet are violently resisting going back there? I remember the days when throwing things at policemen got you throttled.
Some of my relatives have flown Danish and Swedish flags to celebrate their heritage. Are they un-American too? Our country is and has always been a melting pot, and criticizing people for celebrating their heritage is really something.
Don’t worry, the police are still throttling plenty of people.
Burning the US flag should be a 1year minimum sentence, or your choice of free deportation, or a forced walk with no oversight through any military post showcasing your terrorist-like actions..
So much for the first amendment, eh?
Are you guys really not going to report anything about WHY the protesters were blocking the cars in?
It’s because immigrants were being called into the DHS building for “meetings”, and at least two never came out. The protesters were trying to force ICE to release them, and prevent them from being transported anywhere else to “disappear”.
Thanks for the comment. Tukwila Police served as our source for this article, but we will reach out to ICE to try and get more info.
KUOW has a good article about it: https://www.kuow.org/stories/mysterious-notice-tells-immigrants-to-check-in-at-seattle-area-federal-building-several-get-detained
Yes, good, the law being upheld!
Immigrants being checked and deported if their illegal. Great to see
From the KUOW article:
“The people who showed up on Saturday are not undocumented immigrants. They have legal status to be in the U.S. through the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program, which tracks and surveils people through an app, and can include an electronic device placed on person’s body.”
What would be great to see is people having some critical thinking skills, instead of just seeking confirmation for their biases, without any regard for actual facts.
This has been happening for decades. I worked for a food processing company back in the 1980’s and Immigration came in unannounced to the front office and told me to go bring 9 of our 50 employees up front, don’t give them any info just bring them up. They took all 9 of them away and only 2 came back to work. It was the most terrible saddest thing I ever had to do and it still bothers me to this day.
I guess what I’m trying to say is this has been happening forever, unannounced deportation, but it is just more so in our faces (now) because of the internet and media smearing it all over our faces on any and all websites not only because of who is in Office right now.
Yes, if you commit an illegal act in the U.S.—including unlawfully crossing a country’s border or overstaying a visa illegally—you will be held accountable for your actions. It’s genuinely confusing how anyone can justify or debate blatant illegal action, specially by US citizens living and abiding by these laws themselves.
All people are to be given due process.
